Letters To The Ones I Love

For a project in my final year of my bachelors degree i was asked to translate and transform something. I translated emotion for people I hold close to my heart into coded messages.

Using colour abbreviations after assigning each letter a colour, I created a new form of writing. Using my handwriting as my primary typeface displayed as a simplistic and minimalistic zine, i wrote letters in the new writing form to all the people I love. Two of which I have recently lost.

Black background with the text 'Letters to the ones I love' in white on the left. Right side has vertical strips of colors: brown, purple, blue, red, green.
A woman holding a puppy on the left side of the image. The right side features a handwritten letter with unreadable text, addressed 'To nan' followed by closing 'Love me, xx'. The bottom caption reads 'Letters to the ones I love.'
Blue-tinted photo of two people posing with lips puckered. To the right, handwritten note reads: "To mum..." followed by an obscured personal message. Bottom text: "Letters to the ones I love."
Red-tinted photo of a man with arm tattoos sitting at a table. Next to the photo is text resembling a handwritten letter addressed to 'Dad,' along with a closing 'Love me, xx.' The bottom right reads: 'Letters to the ones I love.'
Green-tinted image of a person sitting with a text message on the right. The person wears a sports t-shirt and cap. The text appears as a letter addressed to 'Azuolas,' in a stylized white font. The bottom text reads, 'Letters to the ones I love.'
Vertical black stripe with colorful squares and "By Maddison Pointer" text on the bottom.
